Well, I'm doing a course this year in Creative Writing at college, and I have an idea for a story that I'd love to write, but don't know where to start. This is where you come in
It's a romance/coming of age piece, concerning a settled, out-and-proud gay guy falling in love with a pavee guy.
I guess, my main problem is that I know what it's like to come out as a settled person, but I, in wishing to make the story as realistic as possible, need to know what it's like being gay in the travelling community.
Please, answer my questions if you can. Any input is welcome
1) If the character were to come out, what would the reprecussions be for him, regarding his family and friends in the travelling community?
2) Would he have difficulty accepting his sexuality? How would he feel about being attracted to men?
3) Would he experience bullying/violence?
4) Would it be more realistic for him to remain closted and continue the relationship in secret?
