I'm in England (born here) but I'd love to come over for the next gathering, when will it be?

| Hello there and welcome to the Forum. I hope you make some good connections here.
It's great you'd be willing to travel over for a gathering. Seeing that you'd be traveling quite a distance could you suggest a few good dates for you? We meet on weekends as some members work during the week.
We've mainly met in Galway but would somewhere else suit you better?

| OK, now all we need is a date. Suggestions? December or will we leave it until the New Year? | |

| Hey, that sounds good. So the 11th or the 18th in Dublin? Yes, that sounds like a plan. The 11th might be better as the 18th may be too near the madness that is Christmas. What do you think?
I look forward to meeting you. This will be our first Solstice/ Christmas gathering and we can thank you for getting the ball rolling.

| Well try booking your travel canchito for the 11th, if it's cheaper for you go for the 18th and we'll work around that. Our gatherings have never been huge. So far you know Hanu Fein and I are available for the December gathering. The beautiful Pavee Prince is generally on for a bit of entertaining too.
HEY YOU!!!
Are there any members out there available for a gathering in Dublin on 11th December???Don't be shy.
As usual there will be a message sent to members with details of where we'll meet. Anyone who would like to be met before hand, one or more moderators will be available to meet you.
I have always found the gatherings good fun and the members I've met so far are really lovely.
canchito, we'll wait for you to confirm the date and then we'll sort out the venue.

| right, I'm booked for the 11th to the 13th in Dublin, flight and hotel booked! I'm stopping in Ballsbridge.
On a more sad note, someone from the Birmingham Pavee community committed suicide this week, he was a gay guy who's wife had just left him, he was 29 and survived by 3 kids. We need to do something and I think I'm in a position to get something done as I work for ITM Britain as a community development officer and my boss is a director.

| Canchinto I am very sorry to hear of the loss. It is a cold harsh reality of what we are facing and what the group needs to motivate in the established organisations. I'm shocked that there is no lgbt officer working with the community. We cant and should not avoid this subject. Its about people, real people. We all need to know there is a place for us here and in our community.
I know the ITMB have a very good foundation of financial support... have they made much movement on it?
I'm overdue a meeting. I've dealt with my own stuff for too long about time I meet with my people and be one of them in the light of day.

| So what do we do then? How do we move forward? At the ITMB conference last week I met Thomas McCann who is a psychotherapist who runs the Traveller Counselling Service in Dublin, he actively spoke out on the plight of LGBT Travellers and he was a lovely and warm person, I am pretty sure that seeing as he was a speaker running a workshop on Traveller Diversity and that he works with LGBT Travellers he would be willing to offer support in soem way or another. I am meeting my boss tomorrow so if you can suggest something on how we move forward I will tell him. | |

| Yes, is the short answer to that one canchito. We'll get Pavee Prince on to sorting out a venue in Dublin. It may be an small gathering which will include all the moderators. Thomas is indeed a lovely man. Maybe we should consider inviting a few such friends along?
Generally Prince has sent an message to everyone's in box with details of the meet up.
The gathering will go ahead on the 11th in Dublin. See you there.
A few members of the Forum took part in a LGBT film project in Galway over the summer. The DVD is complete and was screened in Galway last weekend. A copy has been provided to LGBT Pavee, we could possibly see it on 11th.

| Cool! I think we ought to keep the meeting private amongst LGBT Travellers only, perhaps if only for the first hour, then perhaps invite Thomas or someone. what do you think?
Also, we can petition ITMB to make an LGBT Travellers Community Forum but it needs to be done officially. Also, Jackie Duffy at the Emerald Centre on Gipsy Lane (ironically) in Leicester would be more than willing to help.

| Some great thoughts there Ch! Il be back in the moro for a decent reply. The forum as you know is open to the friends of lgbt pavees, in both individuals and the cause itself. In the past time has being given to lgbt pavees ourselves as having a sense of space is important, im sure this could be done again with little bother. | |

| I might be able to make this as am very interested in ways of bringing all communities together and anything I could learn from the group would be invaluable and appropriately kept confidential of course. If I can make it I would be coming along in a personal not a professional capacity just to clarify. I don't want to interfere with personal and private space so let us know what time is suggested for non LGBT travellers. Cheers | |
