LGBT Caravan Empty
PostSubject: LGBT Caravan   LGBT Caravan EmptyFri Jun 24, 2011 7:04 pm

So I was raised settled, though I recently found out that I've got some Pavee ancestory. Anyway, so I've been hearing about how awful it is in europe to be a traveler and how worse even yet it is to be gay within the pavee community and how you're no allowed to travel in the traditional sense in europe, or at least that its very difficult to do. So here's my thought, I know for a fact that there are caravans out here in the states that travel and no one thinks anything of it. I was just think wouldn't it be so amazing to start an all LGBT traveling caravan here in the states! I mean I've no idea if you'd be interested in letting me come along (I'd love to, I've always been a total tumble about) but you all should totally do it! I'm not sure what y'all normally do for work but have you ever thought of getting satellite cards and laptops and doing things like medical transcription and whatever other jobs you can do over the net, just do them on the road? Is there any truth to the idea that a lot of traveling gypsies go into circuses and carnivals?

Hi Lumos and a very warm welcome!

Oddly I actually came across a post of yours today on Journey Folki with a common thread of thought to it. It might be of a little bit revealing to do some research on Irish Travellers/Pavee and Gypsyies as they are in fact two different lineages and traditions, although hey are tvery often confused.

Not sure what the other members think and this would be a totally personal opinion but my sense of culture is not fixated or limited to Travel alone. There is family, shared heritage, lore, stories, a familiarity and kindred pasts here for me and that would not be something I would give up or try to personally transplant to another country. I understand there is a very sizeable Pavee community in America, especially Murphyville which seems to have re-established its roots and sense of community very well so your thought might very well find itself happening someday Smile

Again welcome and looking forward to getting to know you!
