PostSubject: what strategic plan is there amongst us to get a public representative out there   Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:29 pm

thinking it through,,
we need a person from this site guys,,someone out and not afraid.
we need them to be a spokesperson for our minority and i think it should be someone here that is a fewsh face for the media.
i am also in the process of setting up a website for easy advertising about us,and with the permission of the moderators of this forum, advertise and link up with here,. the website will be an officia looking pagr holding statistics and will tie in with other gay organisations. because this group is relatively new, i feel we need to draw the travellers away from other gay sites and come here,.

i am also thinking a poster campaign to highlight the exhistance of our group, and again with permission this forum.

even with a pulic draw of attention to the site we should all still remain nameless,,but i think if we can attract friends of gay travellers or even gay travellers themselves to the site and get info about things, while on the site the gay traveller could with permission of moderators here be directed here.

a forum is great, but a website is needed also..let the site sift the liars out and while the real gay travellers come here.i also think that friends of gay travellers that are settle folk should be welcomed here/
a great place to rule out and bannish misconceptions about us but also a good way to reach afraod travellers...

anyone onboard with me on this.??????????????

Thankfully we have made great progress in the last few months. Since the birthing of the Support Group in September we have created this forum as well as the main site, which is continually being updated, on http://gaypavee.yolasite.com/

Currently there are some dwindling technical issues about forum/site amalgamation but thankfully the domain name has being purchased and all issues should be resolved by the end of the month. (We live in hope).

  • We have an ongoing collaboration with GLEN,

  • Several member applications towards the NLGF for board membership,

  • A commitment from several of the Traveller CE schemes towards workshops dealing with homophobia and the support of GLBT Travellers within the community,

  • An agreement with nine GLBT support groups towards cultural awareness, policy change and ITM collaborated workshops,

  • An upcoming GCN interview and article

  • Have several individuals involved with Minceir Wheidin as well as two who have identified themselves as being members of the governing council, as well as several others whom hold positions in both Traveller organisations and those of the wider community

  • Have being scheduled towards training in basic counselling with two of Ireland main phone help lines in order to maximise Traveller awareness and presence on their service as well as upgrading the core members abilities to engage with the wider group.

Through the main sites mailing list, Irish and English LGBT support group reversals, Traveller organisations and personal contacts we have in total 83 members.

29 Forum members and 54 non-forum members who have opted only for the mailing list e-zine, occasional phone call or a simple support network contacts.

While there is always the possibility of fabrication in the identity of some members due to the wide array of human conditions, through interaction, member knowledge and strong trends of cultural awareness and self identified markers of community membership the number is thought to be more or less accurate.

Although not overtly aggressive or visual in our tactics we are making changes and there is quite a substantial amount of work going on in the background. If you or any other members have any thought, ideals, suggestions or would like to collaborate with us on any matter please do let us know.

Any help what so ever will be genuinely and warmly received.

Thanks

Hanu Fein
