How equal is our pursuit of equality. Empty
PostSubject: How equal is our pursuit of equality.   How equal is our pursuit of equality. EmptySun Nov 29, 2009 5:32 pm

This is a off thread from another topic and I think being gay makes me extra aware of labels and how we use them.

Today i read of MABS (which helps people with budgetting and paying bills) and heard of a traveller section for this. Just wondering why its nessiserly to have a traveller section?

Im sure there a string sane reason but theres being a lot of new traveller specific things starting up latly which not totaly open to the larger community which makes me feel like were accidently boxin our self in and by not being open to then were doing that discrimination in return.

Its important to support the cause and to protect our culture and to help our people but i hope its not at the cost of limitin who we are by trying to keep ahving things with traveller specific.

Not that thats bad, i mean here i am on a pavee site and actual love that fact theres a non traveller here and that shes very welcme. As there a part of us just as much as were a part of them but lets be honest buffers arent always welcome in traveller circles and vice versa).

I knoe the MABS things prob gives someone a job and all that but is having a traveller section nessisery rather then inform and teach people about travellers. Moving them aside to our own section seems to keep it in the same place and away from larger exposure.

Just wonderin where it will stop (or should it?) what and when its innapropriate and is anyone else genuinely worried that we may not always servin our best interests by constently having our own secctions rather then working with the larger group?
