Our father in Kant Empty
PostSubject: Our father in Kant   Our father in Kant EmptyWed Sep 23, 2009 2:54 pm

As I said in another post my relationship with God and being a Traveller is very important to me, so I think it's very appropriate when possible to pray in Kant/Shelta. I think as Gay Travellers we are lacking in a “Role” in our community, as chances are we will not have children, nor get married (well... yet anyway's!) and will therefor be lacking in one of the most sacred and important aspects of community life. Not really having a place can be very difficult and even dangerous so to strengthen the connection with the community and where we came from is not only important, it's almost essential.

English
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Shelta
Gaater a goikhil, swurth asturth Nyedas a Daalyon, swudal duilsha's linska, duilsha's Sreedug toari, duilsha's lag graydied, shedi Ladu arark asturth nyedas a Daalyon. Goathi mweelshas talosk minyurth goshta dura a getcha mweelshas' shakos arark mweels getcha shakors ar mo-djeels, a lag mweelsha needjaish sheert grup a-gamee-ath, a medjri awasth a gamee-okh. Staish Amen.

Terrific!

I often wonder as a proud people who hold sacred most of our cultural traditions, why we dont share and use our language more. education certainly seems the key but also things like this - having ways to incorporate our deep and and rich culture into every day life before it's all gone.

I would love to hear this spoken and would love to make a video of it on youtube. I would write it only in Kant and then get someone to record it, its very easy now to do that.

also, you guys should get in touch with Yaron Matras, he promotes endangered languages at Manchester University.
